Even in those early days when it may not feel like it, you are the expert on your baby! The Nesting Spot’s New Moms Group is a 6-week series where new moms can connect, share experiences, exchange parenting tips, and be reminded that it’s okay to make mistakes—and that in spite of it all, you really do know what’s best for your little one.

Each week centers on a general theme as noted below, though conversations naturally shift based on the group’s needs and interests. Our facilitator, Aariel—mom, early childhood educator, and beloved pre/postnatal yoga teacher—creates a welcoming space for connection and support. One week will be led by Janet Dombro, IBCLC to focus on feeding issues and another week will be led by Jessica Peters, LMFT to focus on improving mental health.

Week 1: Welcome Circle (Aariel) Come to the first week of group ready to introduce yourself and your baby and get to know your group-mates. How is your parenting journey going?

Week 2: Parenting in Community (Aariel) It takes a village! Who is part of your immediate support circle? Partner, parents, in-laws, friends...? How are your relationships going with those close to you?

Week 3: Feeding (Janet) However you are feeding your baby, bring your questions and concerns or perhaps simply your experience. Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, starting solids...Janet, this week's facilitator, is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Week 4: Being a Mom (Aariel) The experience of being a mom is often different than what was imagined in pregnancy or prior. What does it mean to you to be a mom? Do you feel like your identity has changed since your baby was born? Do you see yourself differently? Do you feel like others see you differently? What values or priorities have changed? Which have stayed the same or intensified? Let's unpack this new role this week!

Week 5: Mental Health (Jessica) In the throes of parenting, it's often challenging to have clarity around mental health and understand when and how we should seek support. Jessica, this week's facilitator, is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and will offer a bit of guidance on how to stay mentally healthy through the challenges of parenting.

Week 6: Sleep (Aariel) Getting sleep after welcoming a baby into your life is a challenge every new parent is familiar with. This week we will talk about getting more sleep- for babies and parents alike!

*please note: non-mobile babies only

The support groups are a great place to meet other moms and get support with breastfeeding or other parenting questions! The space is really nice and the facilitators are helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend!
