Hypnosis for Labor

A pregnant woman sits on the floor with her legs crossed, eyes closed, smiling softly. Behind her, a man stands at her shoulders, massaging her neck and shoulders, smiling. They are in a bright living room with green plants and a gray sofa with blue cushions.

Hypnosis for Labor will teach you and your birthing partner the basics of utilizing hypnosis as an effective coping strategy for labor. Practicing hypnosis and visualizations during pregnancy is a calming and enjoyable way to connect as partners while mastering deep relaxation techniques to create a peaceful birth experience.

As part of the process of hypnosis, we will explore fears and anxieties surrounding the birth experience and how to create a working labor plan that best supports both you and your partner. These techniques can enhance your birth experience even with the support of a Doula.

This method was traditionally a “natural birth” method of childbirth preparation; however, we know today that many families need the helpful processing, planning and practice for birth that hypnosis can offer, regardless of whether or not they expect to use an epidural or other forms of medical pain relief. Through an easy program of relaxation, self-hypnosis and education, families learn to release emotions tied to fear-based stories and misinformation.

Suggested Prerequisite: Birthing 101, or another comprehensive birth class, or having given birth before
